To-day was a very busy day. Our ship was to land in the afternoon and we all had to pack our things together. After sitting in the dining room for about 2 hrs. after reaching Bremen Haven, we landed. Everything looked so strange. We had to wait a long time before our machine was shipped off the ship. Several of the waiters bid me good-bye and waved from the ship. (Red Cheeks) a ship officer waved and waved. Gee! but he's good-looking. He's going to wait for me Sept. 6. He watched me through field glasses till we were out of sight. Oh! boy what funny trains. A little school boy who works on the "Dresden" rode with us and showed us the way to Hamburg. While on the way we had a spill. Our baggage dropped off the side of our car. Saw the "Muenchen". We saw officers dressed in odd green suits. Their hats looked like helmets. They were very friendly and gave us good information. I never before saw such beautiful scenery like I saw on our way to Hamburg. The air is so pure and fragrant. Most everybody rides bicycles. The autos are small and have very big licenses. I saw many small children and women carrying pails of water by means of a halter around their shoulders. Most all the men wear short pants and socks. We went as far as Hamburg where a policeman directed us to a hotel in Bergedorf where we spent the night.
